Situated on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea as the largest city of the region of Dalmatia, the city of Split is renowned for its exceptional beauty, breathtaking seaside and fascinating history. Indeed, according to legend, the Roman imperator Diocletian, wanting to retire in the most beautiful part of the vast Roman Empire, chose this very peninsula as the perfect spot for his magnificent palace whose remains the locals and tourists can still admire.

Over the centuries and under Venetian, French and Austrian rule, Split gradually developed into a charming, Mediterranean city with its truly unique historical centre, welcoming visitors in its cosy cafes, relaxing lounge bars, and  outstanding restaurants.

Besides tasting gastronomic specialties and visiting shops with authentic, traditional Croatian products in the charming, narrow allies in the heart of the palace, you can refresh yourself at the city’s sand beach Bačvice, just behind the corner of the famous Split’s promenade Riva where a nice walk under the palm trees and among Mediterranean plant islands is a must.
